Mountain Hardware publishes a fishing report for the Truckee and Little Truckee Rivers. Great detail for the fly fisherman who wants to fish these rivers.

Truckee Kayak Fishing is Picking Up - Sept. 15, 2008

I’ve been out fishing several times in the last month or so and fishing is definitely picking up. I fish from a Kayak and troll with flashers and a wedding ring with a worm on it. I have limited most of my outings - catching rainbow trout 12-14″ long. Lots of fun! 

I mainly fished Donner Lake - nice to fish during this slow time of the year.

Favorite Kayak Spots

Donner Lake - great lake for Kayaking - especially in the morning before the wind picks up. Can be lots of power boat/jet-ski traffic on the holidays. Commonly see Eagles and Ospreys. Good fishing in China cove. This lake contains Macinaw, Kokanee and Rainbow Trout

Prosser - much quieter & excellent for peaceful lake kayaking - put in almost anywhere around the lake - boat ramp by the campgrounds is one of the best launch points. Also see Eagles and Ospreys. Fishing good - smallmouth bass close to the dam. Rainbow trout close to shore between boat ramp and the dam.
